Forum Operation
The terminology for the forum structure is as follows:
Categories (For example "JMA Forums")
->Forum ("R2R")
--->Topic (Discussions/Thread/Group of posts)
----->Posts (Single message)
(Note: the description, “forum” is used to describe the entire system as well as the headings within a category.)
This forum has many features, almost too numerous to describe. There is significant "word processing" capability - just look at the toolbar when you create a new topic or post a reply to a message. Emoticons are plentiful if you are so inclined.
The categories are fixed as are the forums contained within them. We hope that we have created forum subjects that will serve our needs, but they can be altered if there is a clear need to do so. You can start a new string of messages (assuming someone responds) by creating a new topic.
The forums are grouped into categories, and their titles should be self-explanatory. CREATE TOPICS IN THE FORUMS WHERE THEY BELONG AND NO WHERE ELSE! DO NOT REPEAT TOPICS IN OTHER FORUMS IN THE HOPE THAT OTHERS WILL READ THEM. THE MODERATORS WILL REMOVE THEM AND COULD IMPOSE SANCTIONS ON ANY VIOLATOR.
The forum labeled Jewish Esoterica is for Jewish related, but not necessarily motorcycling related.
The forum labeled Religion is for topics purely related to religious matters.
The forum labeled Food is for discussions related to...well, you know what.
Lastly, the forum entitled Anything Goes means just what it says, you can create topics on just about anything else (as long as you stay within the rules): discussions that we previously referred to as "off topic." Politics, weather,whatever you wish - and this time there will be no nasty posts from a moderator with one caveat:
Everyone MUST be courteous and polite. No verbal attacks on anyone's character is permissable, no matter how strongly you disagree on the subject matter.
One of the major advantages of this forum format is that registrants DO NOT get an e-mail everytime someone posts a message as was the case with the Yahoo Groups Forum. You can sign in when you want, read only those message threads that you want and need do nothing more, except maybe respond or create a new topic for discussion.
You have the option (recommended) of being notified when a reply to your message is posted.
You can add a graphic to your messages- called an Avatar.
Your best bet after you have registered is to go to Preferences and adjust your settings to accomodate your needs.
Trial and error will prevail as one gets used to using the forum so have fun and enjoy. We trust your experience with this forum will be pleasurable, efficient and productive.
Lastly, please read the announcement on Rules for the Forum so you are familiar with what is allowed to be posted on the forum.
